Consul General Mr.Chen Ziqin and His Delegation from the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Chengdu Visited Chongqing Jiaotong University

On the afternoon of March 30, 2021, Mr. Chen Ziqin, the Consul General of the Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore in Chengdu, Han Kaijie, the Consul of Government Affairs, and their delegation visited Chongqing Jiaotong University. Prof. Tang Boming, the President of the University, met with the guests at the International Conference Hall of Mingde Building in Nan'an Campus. Vice President Yi Zhijian and representatives from the International Office accompanied them.

Prof. Tang Boming, on behalf of the University, warmly welcomed the Consul General Mr. Chen Ziqin and his delegation for their visit, and outlined the basic situation of the University and the cooperation with universities in Singapore. Prof. Tang said that the“China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity" is the interconnection of personnel, finance, and transportation. Chongqing Jiaotong University will take advantage of the "featured transportation” to better serve the "China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity".

Consul General Mr. ChenZiqin said that the cooperation between Chinese and Singapore universities have a long history. The two sides have, adhering to the development concept of "interconnection", been constantly seeking for new development opportunities in cooperation and exchanges through intensive mutual understanding and breakthrough efforts.

Vice President Yi Zhijian, taking the motto of the University as the breakthrough point, detailed the basic situation of the University from the historical evolution, teaching in stitutions, faculty, disciplines, scientific research achievements and others. Mr. Mao Mingyong, the Head of the Department of International Cooperation & Exchanges, introduced the basic situation of the University's international cooperation and exchanges, as well as the exchange among teachers and students, scientific research and academic exchanges and curriculum introduction between our school and Singaporean universities in recent years.

Consul General Mr. Chen Ziqin said that Singaporean universities such as Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore have always attached great importance to exchanges and cooperation with Chinese enterprises and universities, and the Consulate General is willing to build a platform for cooperation and exchanges between Chinese and Singaporean universities, boost the construction of disciplines and think tanks in the universities of the two countries, and take the opportunity to promote multi-domain and deep-level interconnection between Singapore and Chongqing or even the entire southwest region of China.
